Fort Wayne Fatherhood Coalition (FWFC) is...
Our programs seek to meet our mission which is to support men in their fatherhood journey by encouraging responsible parenting and improving economic stability, resulting in stronger Allen County families. FWFC focuses on three program areas:
Responsible parenting: 24/7 Dad, 7 Habits of 24/7 Dads, Dad’s Club have curriculum from the National Fatherhood Initiative and focus on strengthening a man into becoming the best father he can be for his children. Additionally, Fatherhood Retreats are one weekend only for a fun and intense program, Inside Out Dads is a class offered for imprisoned fathers, STEP classes offer parenting training at various locations, Family Support Conferencing is by referral only in partnership with the court system, and the Siempre Papa Hispanic Conference is a one-day event in Spanish.
Healthy Marriage: Why Knot? is a premarital program for couples to make the transition from dating to married a little bit easier. Couple Care and Love & Respect are both offered to parent couples in order to strengthen their existing relationship.
Economic Stability: FWFC also offers All My Money programs, G.E.D. Preparation classes, and Jumpstart Your Career classes to assist fathers in various stages of life. Whether studying for a G.E.D., looking for a job or work advancement, or trying to better manage money, these programs can assist fathers and support them in making better economic choices.
RESPONSIBLE PARENTING
Fort Wayne Fatherhood Coalition offers a wide variety of parenting programming for fathers in all walks of life.
There are 24/7 Dads programs which use nationally accredited curriculum from the National Fatherhood Initiative. Siempre Papa is the Spanish-language equivelant of the same curriculum and is offered by Spanish-speaking facilitators. Inside Out Dads is offered for incarcerated fathers through Faith Based Mentoring. STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) classes also use nationally accredited curriculum. Additionally, Fatherhood Retreats are done on certain weekends to give dads a chance to have an in-depth look at their fathering skills.
Contact FWFC if you are interested in getting more information about one of the parenting programs being offered.
HEALTHY MARRIAGE
Fort Wayne Fatherhood Coalition has three programs focused on strengthening marriage and relationships between two parents in order to make the entire family stronger.
Why Knot? is a premarital program offered by Trinity UMC to help couples as they take the leap from dating to marriage. Couple Care is also offered by Trinity UMC. Both of these programs work with married or nonmarried couples to help them work through problems in their relationship and give them the skills to overcome future hurdles moving them towards a healthy, committed relationship.
Contact FWFC if you are interested in getting more information about the relationship programs offered.
ECONOMIC STABILITY
Fort Wayne Fatherhood Coalition has programs focused on economic stability, including employment training, GED education, and financial management classes. Creating economic stability helps strengthen the family.
Jumpstart Your Career is offered through Anchor Community Church and focuses on strengthening the skills needed to find employment, such as applications, resumes, and the interview process. GED Preparation classes are offered on a regular basis for fathers to teach them the skills to take and pass the test and receive their diploma. All My Money financial management classes are offered at two FWFC sites in partnership with Lutheran Social Services. With a focus on real life budgeting, All My Money teaches valuable information to gain financial independence.

Fort Wayne Fatherhood Coalition (FWFC) is a coalition with the mission: “to support men in their fatherhood journey by encouraging responsible parenting and improving economic stability, resulting in stronger Allen County families.”
FWFC is a collaboration of seven local organizations and churches working together to impact youth and families by direct services and programs for fathers and father figures. In 2006, a $1 million Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Community Access Grant was provided by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families to the Indiana Youth Institute (IYI), with IYI awarding a grant to establish the Fort Wayne Fatherhood Coalition.*
Whatever your fatherhood journey need may be, contact FWFC and find a program that is right for you. Contact Coalition Coordinator, Wallace Butts at 260-420-5061 or by email at wallace_lovecc.org today! Or visit the website at fwfatherhood.org for more information.
